Sleepy Simon Sloth Sleep Mask - Free Crochet Pattern

Updated: Jul 28, 2019

Sleepy Simon Sloth Sleep Mask

I would like to introduce you to Simon. Sloths’ a rather a thing at the minute aren’t they? My step-son loves them; he has a thousand “cuddlys” but his build-a-bear sloth is the cuddly that consistently comes on holiday and visits friends houses for sleepovers.

The same sproglet likes to sleep in the pitch black – not a single iota of light if possible. So last summer, with the evenings and the mornings getting lighter we found our little man becoming an ever earlier riser! And so Simon was born (black out blinds too but I like a good excuse to create, and a good back story!).

Yarn

Simon is made in DK cotton – I used painbox yarns because I love their colour variety and they are nice on soft, especially necessary on the face!

Any Yarn DK in weight.

Less than 50g Light Brown

Less than 50g White or cream

Less than 10g Dark Brown

Less than10g Black

A teeny tiny splash of white

Tools

You will need a:

Tape Measure

4mm hook

Scissors

Tapestry Needle

Elastic

Construction

Simon is written in UK terminology. He made up from circles, joined and layered up before being sewn together with elastic (though you could use ribbon or anything else you wish) added at the end to keep him nice and secure in place.

Simon Sloth is 7” wide and 3 ¾” high but gauge isn’t too important for this one. Phew!
